Landscapes
Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Capture that sunset with the one person you’ll never forget, even as they immortalize the truest pictures of everyday life. Landscape photos are completely un-staged imbued with the grittiness and flexibility of the outside world and everyday life, teleporting the viewer without pause to that exact scene. They may also remind viewers of places they have been and places we still want to go.
Another subject of landscapes revolves around nature in action and offers stunning panoramic views to remind us of the beauty of the outside world; as well as, remind us of the miles we’ve traveled..the miles we’ve put behind and and the places we have yet to go. Landscapes reel us in with their powerful depictions of sunrises, sunsets, rooftop views at 3AM, and oceanfront porches. They are the purest visual distillation of things dreamt for, by many of us, but usually only realized by a few of us. They are often panoramic, offering breathtaking views of country sunsets, deep blue mountains in the distance of a highway, or the small aspects of life that many never are afforded the time or opportunity to see with their own eyes.
The raw emotion of these photos often pull viewers into the image, presenting a very personal perspective to every set of eyes that sees them. It can also elicit visceral emotional responses as varied as anger, sadness, or uncontrollable laughter, depending on the viewers current emotional state. That makes us feel like we are part of the picture no matter how far away we are from the actual shot.
These sort of photos also provide a picture of what was, historically, for future generations to study growth patterns of cities and therefore, the rise and fall of communities. They can show us a home where so many memories, funny or serious, have been prevalent but now may be silent for different reasons.
“Photography is the story I fail to put into words.”
